Getting to Know Christine

Tony Amaral, Jr., pianist, was Christine’s partner for 28 years before he died 2 1/2 years ago. She painted such a lovely word picture of her time with him that I wanted to include him in Getting to Know Christine.

Meeting Christine for first time at lunch at The Cube Restaurant in Tenby, where we shared a snack.

Christine, is a friend of Ann’s, who is an acquaintance of my friend Jude in Bend, Oregon. Christine lives not too far from Tenby; Ann over an hour away. Jude told Ann I would be here for a couple of months. Ann told Christine and since my arrival both have been generous with their time, driving me to see the sights, have lunch, listening to me talk, talk, talk. And most fun, they have become friends.

Ann drove over on Oct 30th. We met for lunch at The Mooring here in Tenby. We drove to Christine’s and had tea and biscuits (biscuits=cookies). The view and and then sunset from Christine’s was glorious.

October 31st, Christine again showed me the local sights, which frequently involves castles, churches, graveyards, pubs, and always the ocean. I also had the pleasure of meeting Christine’s friend, Mags.

On to another castle. Note: Sometime in the 20th Century someone tried remodeling and added windows that were modern.

On to lunch in a tearoom at a garden center. The beef stew was just right for a cold and rainy day.
